Beef Bacon Roll Ups, Marinara Sauce Pinterest

Beef Bacon Roll Ups with marinara sauce recipe, thin beef steak roll ups with bacon and herbs, slow cooked into a marinara sauce, flavorful, comforting and delicious!

This is a meal from my childhood that I have always loved. To this day, whenever we visit my parents, my mother will wait for us with a tall order of beef bacon roll ups. She generally serves them with sautéed potatoes and on the following day she will cook pasta with the leftover marinara sauce all flavored with the beef roll ups aromas, Mmmmm!

Our beef roll ups are made from thin slices of flank steak or top round steak, we brush them with mustard, top with a thin slice of bacon, a little bit of garlic and parsley, roll them up and simmer into marinara sauce for an hour.

We generously count about 3 or 4 pieces per person, seems that there is never enough anyway… If you have leftover roll ups, you can freeze them.

You can serve these beef roll ups with potato puree, sautéed potatoes and green beans (I love green beans with marinara sauce) or your favorite pasta.

Recipe :

Ingredients:

28 oz. (800 g.) Flank steak or top round steak, cut in thin slices (12 to 16 slices)

2 tbsp. mustard

8 thin slices of bacon, halved

3 tbsp. parsley + 1 garlic clove, chopped

15 oz. (400 g.) Crushed tomatoes

1/2 cup red wine

A pinch of Cayenne

Salt and pepper to taste

Some olive oil to cook

Instructions:

Lay each slice of steak on a cutting board, brush it lightly with mustard, top it with half a slice of bacon, sprinkle some chopped parsley and garlic, roll up tightly and secure with a toothpick

Into a small crock pot, heat some olive oil, add the crushed tomatoes, red wine, sprinkle some Cayenne, salt and pepper to taste, stir and arrange the beef roll ups, cover with a lid. Start on medium/high, once the preparation starts to bubble, lower the heat to medium low and simmer for about an hour, check the sauce from time to time, add some red wine or water when needed.

Adjust seasoning if needed, serve with your favorite side

Enjoy!
