Fried Fish Sandwich Tartar Sauce Pinterest

Fried fish sandwich with tartar sauce recipe, crispy fried breaded cod fillets in a bun with your favorite toppings, easy and quick to make, perfect for weekday dinners, top it with lettuce, tomato, cole slaw, onions, etc. Serve with chips or French fries.

Make this fried fish sandwich with your favorite white fish, hake, halibut, whiting, etc.

Here I used frozen cod fillet, if you are using frozen fish, it is always better to thaw them overnight to make sure all the frozen water will be released, pat them dry several times then you can cook them like any fresh fish.

I find that that these fried fish sandwiches are better served at least lukewarm.

Tartar Sauce:

Tartar Sauce is made with mayo (homemade or store bought), pickles, shallots and tarragon mostly, you can find my recipe here

Buns:

I made my own buns, they are brioche style buns, perfect for sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers or dinner rolls! I always make a batch, split them and store in my freezer, find my recipe here

Cole Slaw:

Recipe :

Ingredients:

800 g (28.21 oz.) cod fillet

salt and pepper to taste

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 eggs, beaten with a fork

About 2 cups breadcrumbs

Some vegetable oil for frying

4 or 5 sandwich buns

1/3 cup tartar sauce

Instructions:

Pat dry thoroughly the fish fillets and set up your work station, prepare 1 shallow dish of flour to which you will add salt and pepper to taste, another shallow dish with the beaten egg and a third shallow dish with the breadcrumbs

Into a large skillet, on medium/high heat, heat enough vegetable oil to shallow fry the fish, coat the fish fillets with flour, dip them into the eggs, then coat them thoroughly with breadcrumbs and fry them for about 3 minutes on each side or until golden

Open your buns and slather them with the tartar sauce on both sides, top with one fried fish fillet and your favorite toppings

Serve immediately with some salad and potato chips or fries

Enjoy!
